Thousands Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Extensive Destruction
Residents witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled 598 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

- Wyndham - over 175 calls for assistance
During the peak on yesterday, in excess of 28k energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the state.
